What is an exhaust gas scrubber?

Exhaust gas scrubbers, also known as wet scrubbers, water scrubbers, and purification towers, are commonly used equipment in gas-liquid reaction systems. The exhaust gas is in reverse contact with the liquid. After scrubbing, the gas can achieve purification, dust removal, and cooling effects. In industrial acid-base waste gas treatment.

How does an exhaust gas scrubber work?

The industrial acid and alkali waste gas enters the waste gas scrubber under the action of the fan. In the spray layer of the scrubber, the absorbing liquid sprayed by the nozzle is evenly distributed on the filler, and the exhaust gas and the absorbing liquid fully contact and react on the surface of the filler. Almost all of the acid substances such as HCL, NO2, NH3, which are easily soluble in water, are dissolved in the absorbing liquid, and react with the absorbing liquid to generate harmless salts and water, so as to achieve the purpose of purifying the exhaust gas. The purified gas will be saturated with water, and the water will be removed by the mist removal device at the top of the tower and then directly discharged into the atmosphere. The absorption liquid is prepared according to the nature of pollutants and can be recycled.

What materials are the exhaust gas scrubbers made of?

Polypropylene PP material
PP, scientific name polypropylene, non-toxic, tasteless, low density, high strength, high toughness, heat resistance is better than low pressure polyethylene, can be used at about 80 ℃. It has good dielectric properties, insulation, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and some materials are UV resistant and fire retardant.

FRP
FRP, commonly known as FRP, has the characteristics of light weight and high strength, corrosion resistance and excellent insulation, and its high temperature resistance is slightly better than PP. The cost of construction is higher than that of PP material equipment.

PVDF

PVDF, the scientific name of polyvinylidene fluoride, has the characteristics of maximum toughness, low friction coefficient, strong corrosion resistance, aging resistance, weather resistance, and radiation resistance among fluoroplastics, and its high temperature resistance is slightly better than that of FRP. The cost of construction is higher than that of FRP.

Stainless/Carbon Steel

Before PP materials were found to be used in exhaust gas scrubbers, stainless steel and carbon steel were the main materials for exhaust gas scrubbers. They were strong and durable, and the cost was slightly higher, but the acid and alkali corrosion resistance was not good. Therefore, this material is currently on the market. Most were replaced by PP.

What are the main uses of PP exhaust gas scrubbers?

PP wet scrubber is specifically suitable for chemical industry, chemical preparation, pharmaceutical factory, laboratory, metallurgy, light industry, food, new energy, electroplating, pickling, petroleum, machinery, electric power and other industries.
